Rs 1,918 crore proposed for PHE works

OVER RS 1,918 crore has been proposed for Public Health Engineering (PHE) works during the 11th Five-Year Plan. Focus will be mainly on making arrangements for potable water in rural areas as well as recharging ground water resources in the proposed Five Year Plans being prepared for the year 2007 to 2012.

OVER RS 1,918 crore has been proposed for Public Health Engineering (PHE) works during the 11th Five-Year Plan. Focus will be mainly on making arrangements for potable water in rural areas as well as recharging ground water resources in the proposed Five Year Plans being prepared for the year 2007 to 2012.

Also, the Narmada Water Supply Project would be completed during the 11th Five Year Plan.According to an official press release, a plan worth Rs 1,547 crore has been chalked-out for the rural areas while Rs 370.57 crore has been proposed for urban areas during the plan period.

Additional potable water resources would be created to provide 55-litre per person per day after making potable water arrangements of 40-litre per person per day in all rural habitations of the State.

Potable water arrangement has been proposed for a total of 23,800 habitations in the State under the 11th Five Year Plan.
