THE BHOPAL Municipal Corporation (BMC) has prepared a Rs 43 lakh plan for the integrated development of the main road from Panchanan building to Link Road number one via Indian Coffee House road. This is expected to clear traffic blocks on the main Malviya Nagar road.
The BMC plans to convert this 500-metre long road into a 9-metre wide road and develop four metre wide parking. A two-metre footpath will also be constructed along this road providing sufficient space on pedestrians.
At present, some building owners have encroached upon the land in front of their shopping complexes leading to traffic blockages on this road. Widening work will be started after removing such encroachments.
BMC has already started developmental works worth Rs one crore inside New Market. Under this scheme, cement concrete road and asphalt road, drainage and sewer systems will be constructed.
However, progress of work in New Market has been very slow due to different reasons. In New Market, development works is being carried out only during the nights as the contractor hardly gets any space during the daytime.
Mayor Sunil Sood said these developmental works will provide facilities to visitors as well as shopkeepers and traders. Sood said he had directed officials to expedite work in order to complete it within the time limit.
