During a joint operation at Hahkati under Dhola police station, the army and police arrested the five linkmen and seized from them the money.

Based on their interrogation two businessmen who paid the extortion demand were held later.

Meanwhile, the body of a prominent businessman of Sibsagar, Ranjit Phukan, who was missing since December 8 was recovered from the banks of river Brahmaputra in Dibrugarh on Saturday.
