RSS wants death for Afzal

The entire top brass of the RSS which met here under the leadership of Sarsanghchalak KC Sudarshan, viewed with deep concern emergence of some sympathisers of Afzal Guru favouring his clemency in December 13, 2001 Parliament attack case in which over a dozen people, mostly security personnel, lost their lives.

“RSS leaders favoured hanging of Afzal Guru in the national interest in today’s meeting”, an RSS insider who also attended the first day of three-day all-India executive committee meeting of the Sangh, informed Hindustan Times on phone.

He added the members condemned UPA government for its weak-kneed policy in dealing with terrorism.

“The members also demanded sacking of ministers of Indian Union Muslim League in UPA government for the party’s involvement in anti-national activities”, he said, adding, the RSS cadre also condemned giving clean chit to Pakistan at the recent NAM summit in Havana.

The members, sources said, also demanded crushing of Maoist activities in the country and in this connection called upon the Union and State governments to enact a law for dealing with the Maoist menace and equip the security forces with modern weaponry for crushing the Maoists.

About 350 members from across the country participated in the first day of the three-day executive committee meet. Some top RSS leaders including Sarsanghchalak KC Sudarshan, Mohan Rao Bhagwat, Madan Das Devi, Suresh Joshi, Suresh Soni, Suresh Rao Ketkar, RSS pointman in BJP Sanjay Joshi, top VHP leaders including Ashok Singhal and Dr Pravin Togadia, also participated in the first day of the meet.

The members condoled the demise of about 60 personalities of different fields and also victims of terrorism and natural disaster. Bismillah Khan, Kannad artist Raj Kumar and Naushad were among eight artists whose death was condoled in the meeting. Among the politicians Pramod Mahajan, ABA Gani Khan Chaudhary, Bansi Lal, Kanshi Ram, Surajbhan were remembered.
