Speaking at a seminar on Suchana Ka Adhikar Aur Bhrashtachar at Lawyers’ Association Hall here on Saturday, Kazmi said that it would become a curse if it were used for political and personal gains.

He said that when corruption had already sapped the foundation of the society, the Act had been introduced.

He also said that since the Act was introduced late, its effect, too, would be visible a little late. He mentioned certain sections of the Act. He agreed with the fact that there was some delay in appointing an information officer and said that things would be set right soon as the State Government had initiated action in this regard.

Replaying to a question about introduction of anticipatory bail, Kazmi said that discussion with the other state authorities was being held and findings of the same would be submitted to High Court by August 2.The other speakers expressed their doubt over the government’s intention about the Act and said that information about bringing changes in the Act was indicative of the fact that the government was not keen to allow the public to use the Act.
