Ruchika case probed 'sincerely': Former CBI DIG

A senior officer dismissed allegations that the CBI had not probed the role of former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore in Ruchika's suicide in 1993 and said that the investigation had been "sincere and unbiased"

Amid allegations that CBI had not probed the role of former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore in Ruchika's suicide in 1993, a senior officer who went into the molestation case then said today the investigation had been "sincere and unbiased".

"As far as I remember, the case has been probed with no bias and all the evidence available on records were been examined by a top criminal lawyer of the country," IGP (HQ), Bihar Rajesh Ranjan, who was then DIG CBI told PTI when asked for his comments on the allegations levelled by Ruchika's family.

Ranjan said the case was probed thoroughly and the chargesheet submitted after a full vetting of records" and after the examination of evidence, it was once again "legally vetted thoroughly" before submitting the final chargesheet in the molestation case.

Dismissing the charges against the Girhotra family that appeared in a section of the press in Haryana on Thursday, that Ranjan had refused to record the statement of Ruchika's brother, Ashu, despite the latter's assertion that his sister committed suicide after the family was harassed at the behest of Rathore, who was an IGP in Haryana, he said "it was absolutely wrong"
