RUCKUS MARKED the final day of counselling at the SV Polytechnic here as students, enraged by fact that they were called despite unavailability of seats, got into heated argument with the counselling officials and also mishandled some official documents.
Police had to be called in to control the situation. It is learnt that from the past four days – as concluding phase of the counselling for admissions to various polytechnics in the State – students of all categories were being called against the vacant seats available. It was mentioned in the advertisement for counselling that students of all categories could attend counselling on October 30 and 31 and November 1 and 2 against vacant seats.
The general category vacant seats got filled up on October 30 while the OBC seats got filled up on November 1. However, the students were not properly communicated this aspect and along with the SC students (for whom 505 seats were available), general and OBC category students also reached the counselling venue on Thursday.
The number of the SC students who arrived also well exceeded the number of seats available as at least 1,600 SC students reached for counselling.

{{/usCountry}}When the students were informed about the vacancy position they were enraged at the fact that they were not given prior information about the situation and got into an argument with the officials.
They also mishandled the files and other documents. When things went out of control, the counselling officials summoned the police, who reached the venue and drove the students out of the counselling office.
