The Rupee fell sharply on Monday to its lowest in 2006, crossing the psychologically important 45.50 per Dollar mark, on concerns that the market slide would prompt foreign investors to pare holdings.

At 2:10 pm, the rupee was quoted at 45.5250/5400 against the Dollar, 1.07 per cent lower than Friday's close of 45.04/05 and its weakest since mid-December, according to sources.
The 30-share BSE Index was down 3.7 per cent at 11,827.32 points, tailing a slide across Asia.
