Rural technology meet concludes

Bhopal district panchayat president Chetan Patidar was the chief guest at the concluding function.

Bhopal district panchayat president Chetan Patidar was the chief guest at the concluding function.

About 80 sarpanchs, deputy sarpanchs, panchs, panchayat secretaries and farmers of 30 panchayats participated in the workshop.

Earlier in the technical session on first day, MP Vigyan Sabha general secretary S R Azad spoke about the importance of technology in rural development. In the second technical session, Amit Khare spoke on the Panchayati Raj Act.

In the first session on second and concluding day, scientist with Indian Institute of Soil Sciences held discussions with the participants mentioning that out of the 307.56 lakh hectares geographical area, 146.6 lakh hectare is under agriculture of which 47.5 pc is arable and 24.3 pc is suitable for multi-cropping.

Dr U S Sharma spoke on food processing and preservation and Bhubharahan of NABARD gave details of self-employment opportunities through self-help groups and the role of banks in this sector. Vote of thanks was proposed by Ashish Pare of MP Vigyan Sabha.
