The widely circulated Marathi language paper has in its editorial comment on Wednesday heaped scorn on the Hindu Jan Jagruti Sanghatana and Sanatan Sabha whose members have confessed to having planted a low intensity bomb in the parking lot of Gadkari Rangayatan auditorium in Thane on June 3 that exploded injuring a few people.

Ramesh Gadkari, Santosh Angre, Vikram Bhave and Mangesh Nikam have told the police that they planted the bomb to protest insulting references to Hindu deities in a Marathi play "Aamhi Pachpute" that was staged in the theatre.

The Saamna editorial said: "We were already convinced after reading the (initial) reports of the damp squib that it could not be the handiwork of any Islamic terrorist organisation as they would never plant such tiny, feeble bombs that would do no more than causing minor injuries to a few persons and bring disrepute to their outfits."

The Shiv Sena mouthpiece, edited by party leader Bal Thackeray, concludes the editorial by flaying the planters of the feeble bombs for "sullying the Hindu pride by such tame acts".
