Starting next year, devotees of the famed Sabarimala temple can pay their obeisance through cyberspace.
"We are working towards the implementation of this through a website where devotees could have an e-darshan and this would be ready by next year," CK Guptan, president of the Travancore Devasom Board (TDB) said on Friday.
The Sabarimala temple situated on the Western Ghats is one of the most famous Hindu pilgrim centre in India.
With the annual festival season set to commence from Nov 17, Guptan added that all the facilities are being given the final touches and this season there would be a complete ban on plastics.
"This season there would be more facilities for all devotees to buy the prasadam," said Guptan.
"There will be no supply of water in plastic bottles, and all those who bring bottles have to see that they drop it in designated places after which it would be disposed."
He also said that the security at the temple town would be strengthened and a sum of Rs 40 million would be spend.
"Plans for constructing a ropeway from the foothills of the temple to the top but only for transporting of goods and services and a 500 bed hospital at Pathanamthitta is also on the cards, Guptan added.
