Sadananda Gowda welcomes Katra-Udhampur rail inauguration

Stating that the Indian Railways is committed to the balanced development of railway network across regions, Union Railways Minister D.V Sadananda Gowda today welcomed the Katra-Udhampur rail inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Gowda said, I wholeheartedly thank the Prime Minister of India for having come here and inaugurating this great facility. This facility will enable the connectivity between Srinagar and the rest of India. I am sure Katra rail connectivity will provide opportunities to local artisans, traders and students. Indian Railways is committed to balanced development of railway network across regions.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today flagged off the inaugural Katra-Udhampur train on his first visit to Jammu and Kashmir after assuming office.

The Prime Minister flagged off a Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) which will serve as a special train to the Hindu holy shrine of Vaishno Devi. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also welcomed the inauguration saying that it had been long awaited and will be a big boon for the locals as well.
