The trial of deposed Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein on charges of crimes against humanity over a Shiite massacre two decades ago resumed on Tuesday with all eight defendants present.

Dressed once more in his trademark black business suit, Saddam shouted "God is great" and "long live the great Arab nation" before taking his seat in the dock.

Saddam's half brother and former secret police chief Barzan al-Tikriti entered the court looking very weak and wearing the same, informal pajama-like clothing as Monday's session.

"I sacrifice the blood of my mother and father to the great Baath.
