Apropos of the report Nursery rhymes face saffron sack (June 14), there is nothing wrong with the MP government’s move to replace decades-old nursery rhymes with new ones. It is actually a good idea, provided that the new ones are catchy and easy-to-learn.

Caribbean cricket
Apropos of Gulu Ezekiel’s article The other India (June 13), I do not agree with the view that “if cricket is still alive in the West Indies today, it is largely due to the interest among the Indian community”. Looking at the present West Indies team, it is clear that Afro-Caribbean players are still a big component of the Caribbean cricket. On the other side of the spectrum, let us not forget Indo-Caribbean cricketer Robin Singh, who played for India. Moreover, Sonny Ramadhin was not a left-arm spinner.

Misleading report
The report Indian Army: A family shoot (June 12) is not responsible journalism. The reporter missed the point that the film was meant to motivate today’s youth, which is hankering after lucrative jobs and avoiding joining the armed forces as these can’t compete with the private sector in terms of pay and perks. The media should report such sensitive issues in a
responsible way.
