A Delhi court on Tuesday allowed Mumbai police to formally arrest Sahil Zaroo in a theft and criminal assault case and granted them three days transit remand to produce him before the concerned court in Mumbai.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kamini Lau directed Mumbai police authorities to present Zaroo, who was granted bail in connection with the Rahul Mahajan drug abuse case yesterday, before the court on or before June 23.
She also directed that Sahil be medically examined before taking him to Mumbai and observed that he should be produced in Delhi as and when his presence was required in connection with Rahul's case.
The court refused to entertain defence's plea for grant of transit bail, as Sahil's anticipatory bail plea had already been dismissed on April 26 this year by the court of an Additional Sessions Judge in Mumbai.
Sahil and two others are accused of having "stolen" 'shahtoosh' shawls from his father's Kashimiri handicrafts showroom in a Mumbai hotel, allegedly attempting to escape a raiding party of Wildlife Protection officers.
Earlier, the Investigating Officer in the drug abuse case, Madanjeet Singh Randhawa, submitted his report on behalf of the Police Commissioner, stating that there were no cases against Sahil in Delhi other than the NDPS case.
