A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court on Friday sentenced former actress Monica Bedi to five years' imprisonment in a passport forgery case.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs l,000 on Bedi, girlfriend of underworld don Abu Salem. The couple was extradited from Portugal in November 2005.

The court also sentenced three other accused to three years' imprisonment each but acquitted two others.
Bedi, Salem and his first wife Sameera Jamani had obtained passports under fictitious names from the Regional Passport Office, Hyderabad, in 2001. They had submitted false addresses of Kurnool town.
Salem and Bedi were extradited on November 11. Bedi was brought to Hyderabad from Mumbai in the fake passport case the same day.
