Defence continued to cross-examine the RTO officer, who inspected the car which was involved in the hit and run case of 2002 involving actor Salman Khan. The officer said that he checked the front left tyre for one to two minutes by pressing it by hand.

“I did not discuss with Imtiaz, who was the expert, about what to say about the condition of tire in terms of technicality. Tyre can be one of the reasons for accident,” said the officer. He further said that he had deposed before that the tires were in good condition and that he does not have any expertise on rubber and tire.

Defence lawyer Shrikant Shivade asked that whether police took the car to station by towing or dragging to which the witness feigned ignorance.

Special public prosecutor Pradip Garath, while talking to HT, said, “I submitted an application in the court saying that the magistrate, in front of whom the witnesses had deposed earlier, should be produced so that there is no prejudice against the accused but the defence said that if the certified copies of the statements are brought on record, then there is no need for the examination of the magistrate, to which both of us agreed.”
