AN EVENT - ‘Salsa Nights’ - would be held at Quorum-the Lounge Bar in Hotel Sayaji tomorrow. Quorum in-charge Abhishek told reporters here today that Mexican and Spanish theme in cuisine and décor would be followed during the event. Abhishek said that Salsa instructor and dancer Rounaque Sidana would perform in the event with model Kazia and actress Himanshi.
Rounaque said there were many training sessions for Salsa in the City, but no place to exhibit it after learning. He further said that Salsa Nights would provide a forum to the young Salsa dancers in the City to exhibit their talent. He would deliver a lecture and demonstration on Salsa prior to his performance. The instructor would provide two-hour training to the participants in Critical Mass before the event.
Rounaque has trained around 600 people in Indore and plans to launch a dance studio and school here. He would hold Salsa workshops at Sayaji every month. Speaking about popularity of Salsa, Rounique remarked that Bollywood movies and albums set dance trends in India. Now that Hindi movies are increasingly including Latin dance styles in their songs, Salsa is also picking up among masses, he added.
He highlighted that Salsa can be performed alone, with couple and in a group but it is generally known as a couple dance. The performance and workshop is priced at Rs 750 only for couples and exclusively for Quorum members. The cover charges would include dinner, drinks and snacks. A special Spanish cocktail Sangaria would be served to guests at the event.
