While talking to Hindustan Times, Kashif seemed unnerved about the accident, saying that he lost control over his vehicle when he suddenly saw two motorists coming from the opposite direction at an almost equal speed. The motorcyclists, Anil and Raja, are now battling for life in a trauma centre.

Banto Devi, a pavement dweller miraculously escaped the mishap. She said that the vehicle ran over Hasan, Lakshman, Jagdish, Ramu, Lukman, Chand Babu, Hashim and Hasan’s unidentified 13-year-old nephew before finally ramming into an electricity pole.

A student of IIPM-Delhi, Kashif Abbas is the son of MLA Shadab Fatima and PWD executive engineer Nasim Haider. Fatima is the chairperson of UP Upbhokta Sahakari Sangh and is minister of the state.
