Samajwadi Party to back Govt on nuclear deal

Senior party sources said on condition of anonymity that SP would give the support of its 39 MPs in Lok Sabha should the need arises.

The Samajwadi Party, which is being vigorously wooed by Congress for its support in Parliament on Indo-US nuclear deal in case of a trial of strength, is understood to have decided to give its backing to the pact.

Senior party sources said on condition of anonymity that it would give the support of its 39 MPs in Lok Sabha should the need arises.

They said the party would make public its stand at a later stage.

The senior leader pointed out that SP has already gone on record saying communal forces were a bigger danger than the deal.
