She zoomed into the top-5 in the world badminton rankings last month. And Saina Nehwal can’t hide her excitement. “It’s a dream come true. For the past year, I was working towards it, but I wasn’t expecting it so soon. My good performance in the Uber Cup and the All England Championships helped it,” says the champ who has recently bought a house in the Capital.

Saina, who is in Delhi for the Asian Badminton Championship to be held from tomorrow, says she now aims for the top 3 slot. “It is tough and I have to work hard. But my focus is fitness, training and winning as many important titles as possible,” she explains.

While fellow Hyderabadi sportstar and friend Sania Mirza is making news for her personal life, Saina says she’s concentrating on her career. “These days everyone’s asking me this. I have no plans to get married till I’m at the peak of my career. A relationship needs time, which I don’t have right now. I expect to play and win as much as possible before I get married. I think even Sania could have played more before settling down,” she says.
