Mirza won 6-4, 6-1 against Molik at the Domain Tennis Centre to advance to her first semi-final of the year.

After claiming the only service break of the first set in the seventh game, Mirza rattled off six straight games in the second to win in little over an hour against the Australian former World No 8.

Mirza, the World No 66, will play either Russia's Anna Chakvetadze or China's Jie Zheng in the semi-finals on Thursday.

Before that match, though, she and Molik will team up again in the doubles quarter-finals this afternoon.

Earlier, Russian Vasilisa Bardina booked her place in the final four after a gruelling three sets win over Colombia's Catalina Castano, 3-6 6-2 7-5.
