Saregama set to enter animation

Saregama will look at developing animation content in the form of webisodes, movies and feature films.

"Saregama India is set to enter the animation industry within the next three months," informed BR Sharan, Chief Creative Officer, Saregama Films.

There may be initial investments made to the tune of Rs 50 to Rs 70 crore. An animation division would be set up as well. Sharan also informed

that since Saregama has a strong music background, there may be attempts to develop animation content with music as a strong backbone.

Sharan said that till now, largely animation projects in the country have been run like the BPO industry focusing on outsourcing. He said that Saregama might look at developing animation content in the form of webisodes, movies and feature films.

Sharan manages the films venture of Saregama, which made a reentry into film production earlier this year. The shooting of the film Chain kuli ki main kuli, that Saregama was working on is over and the movie will be released either in late April or early May.

The movie was made with an all-inclusive budget of around Rs 3.3 crore. The shooting for the other movie from Saregama's stable 'Japanese Wife' which stars Rahul Bose has started as well.
