Shaikh is a member of the Satara Vikas Aghadi floated by Udayanraje Bhosale, the 13th descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, founder of the Maratha Empire.

Bhosale won the Satara Lok Sabha seat on a Nationalist Congress Party ticket.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Ramdas Jagtap served the notice on Shaikh, seeking a reply by Thursday.

The notice asked Shaikh, who has offences registered against him at Satara and Borgaon police stations, why he should not be externed from Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, Solapur and Pune districts of western Maharashtra.

Four offences have been registered against Shaikh and he was acquitted in one case.

Three cases are pending in court.

Besides Shaikh, six people were issued the same notice. Their names were given as Santosh Salunkhe, Deepak Mandhare, Valmik Kamthe, Balu Khandare, Nilesh Tawre and Kishor Galphade.
