SC appoints committee to look into clash in Madras HC

The Supreme Court appointed a committee headed by retired apex court judge B Srikrishna to inquire into the clashes between lawyers and police in the Madras High Court on February 19.

The Supreme Court on Thursday appointed a committee headed by retired apex court judge B Srikrishna to inquire into the clashes between lawyers and police in the Madras High Court on February 19.

A bench headed by Chief Justice KG Balakrishnan asked the Committee to submit its interim report within two weeks.

The bench said the Committee would consider taking immediate action against police officers who allowed the entry of cops inside the High Court premises resulting in alleged police excesses.
