"Most of the reports are based on half truth and misunderstanding of the Court judgement and a good majority based on selectively planted information mixed with audacious lies," he told reporters here on Thursday.

The Supreme Court had cleared the Rs 2,250 crore Bangalore-Mysore four-lane express highway project dismissing the appeals filed by the Karnataka government against the Karnataka High Court judgement.

The state government was directed to pay Rs 5 lacs to Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise Limited (NICE), a Pune-based consortium, the developer which had entered into an agreement with the state in 1997 for executing the project.

The apex court also directed that the project should be implemented forthwith and the attempts made to scuttle it by not releasing the land and trying to take away the land by passing a legislation will be against the order.

The JD(S) supremo also refuted the charge that a bogey was being created by him for favouring rich and influential farmers.

"Infact on the contrary we will sacrifice everything the day we realise we are not in a position to protect the interest of the poor," he added.
