Scent of a women’s wing in SIMI: Cops

Ujjain IGP MP Dwivedi says they have information that a women’s wing of SIMI, christened the Shahin Force, has been launched in the region.

Five suspected SIMI activists were arrested on Monday from a house in Unhel town, 20 km from here. Ujjain Inspector General of Police M.P. Dwivedi said they also have information that a women’s wing of SIMI, christened the Shahin Force, has also been launched in the region.

The police have names of four women suspected to be associated with the Shahin Force. He, however, did not divulge the names.

Monday’s arrests follow the interrogation of top SIMI leaders in Indore, who were held in a major raid last week.
The arrested activists have been identified as Jadil Parvez, Ayaz alias Ashu, Akbar , Mehruddin and Irshad Ali, all resident of Unhel. Police also seized incriminating literature.

The accused were produced before a judicial magistrate on Monday afternoon and have been remanded in police custody till April 7.

IG Dwivedi told reporters that the suspected SIMI activists had assembled in the house to discuss the situation arising out of the arrests of the banned outfit’s top leadership.

Cases under sections 124 (a) and 153 (a) of the IPC and different sections of Unlawful Activities Act have been registered at Unhel police station.

The police in several states, including UP, Karnakata, Kerala and Maharashtra, are interrogating the arrested leaders
they have refused to divulge any details.
