THE AMBITIOUS `School Chaley Hum’ enrollment campaign of the State Government under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), to begin from July 1, has run into trouble even before its commencement in Bhopal district.
Offices of District Planning Coordinator (DPC) of SCERT and District Education Officer (DEO) have got into a face-off regarding deployment of senior teachers for the campaign.
The DPC office had sent a proposal to CEO Zila Panchayat requisitioning about 80 lecturers from the education department for the campaign.
The proposal was forwarded to the DEO office. However, DEO Dhirendra Chaturvedi has made it clear that it will be difficult for the department to spare so many senior teachers for the campaign right at the beginning of the academic session.
He said Directorate of Public Instruction had taken a very strong stand regarding the quality of education and consequently it was mandatory for all teachers to be present in school right from the beginning of the academic session.
DEO told Hindustan Times he suggested Cluster Resource Coordinators (Jan Shikshaks) who were on deputation with SCERT for SSA work be used for the campaign. He has further said if lecturers’ services were indeed required for the campaign then their involvement should be restricted to weekly monitoring of the campaign through a meeting to be held at respective schools. Lecturers could also undertake weekly surprise checks on the campaign work in the field, the DEO has suggested.

{{/usCountry}}The DPC office meanwhile insists that the work requires fulltime involvement of lecturers. State Wide Campaign: THE STATEWIDE ‘School Chaley Hum’ campaign will be conducted simultaneously in all districts from July 1 to 15 and will have the active involvement of the entire Cabinet led by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and the entire bureaucracy at all levels led by Chief Secretary Rakesh Sahni.
State Government is targeting enrolment of about 1.72 lakh children in the age group of 5 to 14, currently out of school, during this campaign.
`Praveshotsava’ – enrolment festivals will be conducted in all schools with primary education facility. Prabhat pheris and rallies will be held by members of Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) and from July 1 to 10 Shiksha Sabhas will be held at schools.
Bal Melas (Children’s Fair) and Maa-Beti Melas (mother-daughter fairs) will also be held in schools. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said all members of his Cabinet, MPs, MLAs and Panchayat level representatives will visit various areas in their jurisdiction and encourage people to send their children to schools. He has also written letters to people’s representatives to make efforts for the success of the campaign.
Between July 1 and 15, divisional level officers will visit respective divisions and districts and district level officials will undertake three-day visits in their areas to motive Government officials and employees for the campaign. District Collectors have been asked to ensure that no localities in their districts are left out during the campaign.
