“THERE ARE pretenders selling fake silk in the name of ‘art silk’, ‘Mysore silk’, ‘garden silk’, ‘China silk’ or ‘silk lon’, said Ramesh Chandra of Varanasi Chapter of Silk Mark Organisation of India, here on Friday.

Chandra was talking to media persons here at WH Smith School in Sigra area. He said the Central Silk Board under Union Textile Ministry, has launched ‘Silk Mark’ scheme to safeguard the common people from being cheated in the name of various silk materials.

He said in an attempt to spread awareness for pure silk among the masses through teachers, students and their guardians, ‘Silk Mark’ Organisation of India in association with WH Smith School would organise a consumer awareness programme.
