Scheme to encourage 300 ST students

STATE GOVERNMENT has made provisions to encourage Scheduled Tribes candidates who have successfully cleared different levels of civil services examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and MP Public Service Commission (MPPSC).

STATE GOVERNMENT has made provisions to encourage Scheduled Tribes candidates who have successfully cleared different levels of civil services examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and MP Public Service Commission (MPPSC).

Under the scheme, an amount of Rs 59.20 lakh was paid to about 300 such candidates as an incentive during the year 2005-06. State Government has also taken a decision that tribal youths, who get through the preliminary exam of the UPSC, will be entitled to avail the facility of coaching at any prestigious coaching centre in the country for appearing in the main exam and interview.

Under the scheme, such tribal candidates who clear the All-India Civil Services Examinations conducted by the UPSC will be eligible to get the incentive amount. According to this, an incentive of Rs 40,000 will be given after passing the preliminary exam.

Similarly, Rs 60,000 will be given after the main exam and another Rs 50,000 on selection. The incentive rates have also been fixed for students who appear in the MPPSC’s Civil Services Examination. According to this, Rs 20,000 will be given to those who get through the preliminary exam, Rs 30,000 and Rs 25,000 for the main exam and the interview respectively.
