Wednesday’s violence in Noida forced many private schools either to divert their bus routes or to keep students on campus till the their parents came to pick them up.
“It had turned ugly by afternoon. A number of buses couldn’t reach the school. We immediately informed the parents and held back students. The school will remain closed on Thursday,” said Kamini Bhasin, principal, DPS, Noida Sector 30.
“We called the parents residing in the industrial sectors and requested them to come and pick up their wards. We told them that if they won’t be able to come, then they will have to wait till the school arranges for some alternative,” said Savita Mehta, spokesperson, Amity International School, Sector 44, Noida.
Parents complained that they faced lot of trouble due to the sudden request by the schools.
“I got a call from the school at 12. They informed me that buses could not drop her back home due to the bandh. They requested me to come and pick her from the school. Luckily, I was in Noida so I went and pick her up. But I still feel that the schools should have been ready for the situation,” said Ankit Sharma, (name changed on his request) a parent.
Though most of the schools will not officially be closed on Thursday, parents have been asked to use their own discretion. “Our school will remain open but we have asked the parents to decide whether they want to send their children to school or not,” said Elina Dayal, principal, Nehru International School, Sector 11, Noida.Apart from DPS, The Shriram Millennium School has also announced a holiday on Thursday.
