Scindia raises dacoit menace with PM, Patil

CONGRESS MEMBER of Parliament Jyotiraditya Scindia on Thursday met Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Home Minister Shivraj Patil in New Delhi and raised with them the issues of dacoity menace in Madhya Pradesh and ?deteriorating? law and order situation. Scindia urged the two leaders to intervene in the matter.

CONGRESS MEMBER of Parliament Jyotiraditya Scindia on Thursday met Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Home Minister Shivraj Patil in New Delhi and raised with them the issues of dacoity menace in Madhya Pradesh and ‘deteriorating’ law and order situation. Scindia urged the two leaders to intervene in the matter.

Scindia apprised them of the recent killing of five villagers of Gurjar community near Karyara village in Shivpuri district by bandit Gadaria gang.

Besides, he recounted earlier cases of loots, kidnappings for ransom and massacres by dacoits in his Parliamentary constituency of Guna-Shivpuri during the meeting with Dr Singh.

Scindia said the measures taken by State Government so far proved futile and dacoits continued to commit acts of terror in the region with impunity. As a result of which, development and agrarian activities of marginalised farming community were severely affected, he added.

Scindia urged Dr Singh and Patil to intervene and evolve a collective planning with the State to get rid of the dacoity menace. Transfer of police official alone was not going to help much because that would demoralise the police force, he added.

Scindia criticised the State Government for lacking in political will and vision to tackle the situation. He submitted to Dr Singh and Patil a three-point formula to eliminate Gadaria and other dacoits active in the region.
