The house belonged to the scrap dealer, Sobran Singh.

Senior police officials including special superintendent (Agra) Subhash Chandra Dubey reached the spot along with a bomb-disposal squad. He said the incident was serious and action would be taken.

Following the mishap, the police authorities wrote to the army about the mishap because the explosion occurred in two inactive mortar shells used by the army.

“There was a loud noise at around 10.15am. The reason was unclear but locals rushed to the house, the wall of which was shattered because of the blast,” said Rohit Pal Singh Baghel, a lawyer who lives in the area.

The woman has been admitted to a hospital near the Taj and is reported to be stable.
