PROTESTING AGAINST the slow pace of investigation into the episode of scribes being taken hostage by Education Department employees and the subsequent controversial statement by the superintendent of police, journalists on Wednesday met Divisional Commissioner Jaideep Govind, Inspector General of Police Anil Kumar and Collector Neeraj Mandloi and demanded immediate action against the guilty.
The newsmen condemned the treatment meted out to two electronic media scribes at District Education Office two days ago. The journalists were also angered over SP Jaideep Prasad’s advice to the education employees to deal with the journalists before reporting to the police.
They said regional news channels flashing the statement of SP were blocked by the local cable operator on the directives of the SP.
