Police told HT that the SDM gave his opinion on the fresh medical report after it was produced before him by the police for consideration a few days ago.

The SDM suggested that the death could be a suicide, homicide or an accident and that investigators must cover all bases, said the source.

Sunanda Pushkar was found dead at hotel suite in south Delhi on January 1.

“Our inquest proceedings are pending because we have not reached any conclusion and it is very important for us to do all that is possible to understand all aspects and reach a conclusion. And to understand those circumstances, whatever needed, will be done,” said BS Bassi, Delhi police commissioner, on Friday. He refused to go into the specifics of the case.

The forensics team found fluid marks on the bed and the carpet, police officers privy to the probe said.

“They found a broken water glass from the scene besides other evidence. The freshly collected evidences will now be examined and a report will be submitted soon,” said a police officer, adding they had written to the CFSL and AIIMS asking them to revisit the scene a day after they got the fresh reports.
