SDM orders closure of Grasim factories

IN AN unexpected development, Sub- Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sanjana Jain on Friday ordered the immediate closure of production at the chemical division of the Grasim Industries Limited and Gwalior Chemicals Limited of Nagda.

IN AN unexpected development, Sub- Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sanjana Jain on Friday ordered the immediate closure of production at the chemical division of the Grasim Industries Limited and Gwalior Chemicals Limited of Nagda.

The orders are issued under Section 133 of the CrPC after complaints that pollution of the factories is creating unhealthy atmosphere in the vicinity. The interim orders would be binding till the final disposal of the petition.

According to information, the Sarpanch of village Azimabad Pardi, Kanchan Bai had filed the petition in the SDM court that water in the village has become unhygienic for human consumption as well as for animals due to the chemicals emanating from these factories.
