With reference to Anti-sealing trade bandh from today, (October 30), the governments as well as the MCD have made a mockery of the sealing drives. There is still no answer why unauthorised constructions were allowed in the first place. The MCD disregarded city plans and the government allowed it to do so. The Supreme Court must advise and the government must ensure that it does not play politics with the SC rulings.

The report No miracles, just misery for India (October 30) is correct in its analysis that India’s performance in cricket tournaments shows that winning has never been an objective. We have lost shamelessly, that too on home turf. India celebrates one victory by losing three matches. With all the seniors so inconsistent, the younger players are the only hope for the World Cup.

There’s too much interference by the so-called cricket experts. Criticising everyone’s efforts is bound to hamper performance. And there’s no real analysis. A batsman is made a god and dumped soon after. The media should stick to calling only former players as experts.

India failed miserably to deliver when it was required to do so. It is an irony that Asia, the land of cricket, will be unrepresented in the semifinal of a prestigious event. No boundary was scored in fourteen overs clearly indicates the depth of our batting. Blaming the bowlers without giving them a solid total to defend against a top team like Australia is not going to help.

Greg Chappell’s experiments are too much to digest. Only a few months ago, we were the world’s best chasing team and now we look so helpless on the field.
