"Last week, the LT Marg police arrested a person named Vijayan alias Kerela alias Batla, after he tried to break into a jewellery store," said an officer from Pant Nagar police station, requesting anonymity. "Vijayan confessed to his role in the robbery at BB Jewellers as well."

In March, five armed men broke into BB Jewellers and made way with gold and silver jewellery worth Rs8 lakh. The accused also attacked the security guard - who succumbed to his injures- and opened fire on two constables who tried to stop them. One of the constables was injured in the incident.

Police arrested one of the five robbers, identified as Kashi Devraj Mudliyar alias Kashinath, in April. "We are on the lookout for three other accused identified as Shankar, Krishna and Ram Moorthy. We are hoping that Vijayan's interrogation will help us nab them," said sub inspector Machindra jadhav from Pant Nagar police station.
