Security arrangements for the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas at Hyderabad January 7-9 and for a conclave of the ruling Congress party in the same city later in the month were reviewed at a high-level meeting here on Wednesday.

The meeting comes in the wake of a terror strike at the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore last month and the unearthing of a module of the Pakistan backed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Hyderabad on Monday, a day before Prime Minister Manmohan Singh inaugurated a science congress in the city.

The prime minister will open the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas or diaspora day celebrations on Saturday.

Chaired by Home Secretary VK Duggal, Wednesday's review meeting was attended by senior officers of the Andhra Pradesh government and central agencies.

"It was decided to ensure foolproof security arrangements for the two events. The centre would provide the necessary assistance, sought by the state government," an official statement said.

Intelligence sources here said Monday's arrest from Nalgonda in Andhra Pradesh of Abdur Rehman, suspected to be involved in the Dec 28 Bangalore attack, could lead to the unearthing of several LeT sleeper modules in south India.
