HECTIC PREPARATIONS are on for the smooth Republic Day celebration with police and civil administration busy giving finishing touches to tomorrow’s celebrations.

The sensitive Gyanwapi-Vishwanth Temple complex received special attention of the police administration. Senior police officers visited this complex last evening to take stock of the situation in view of the Republic Day on Thursday.
Security has been beefed up at the sensitive installations in the division. “I visited the Vishwanth Temple Complex last night with the view to ensure no untoward incident takes place on January 26,” deputy inspector general of Police (DIG), Varanasi range, RN Yadav said.
He said security has been beefed up in this sensitive complex. “We have geared our manpower, though we are alert 24 hours but extra vigil is being maintained for Republic Day celebration,” JK Tiwari, additional SP, Gyanwapi-Vishwanath Temple Complex told HT.
Minister of State for Information Technology Virendra Singh would receive salute at the official function at police lines here on Thursday. Singh will be the chief guest on the occasion.
