Official sources on Saturday said that police, along with the military, have launched operations against militants across the state.

Police have been checking buses at various entry points. Even at night, the security personnel have been posted to stop any untoward incident.

Officials said that people would not be allowed to carry mobile phones and cameras while participating in the Independence Day ceremony. The district administration and senior government officials had several rounds of talks to ensure smooth celebration for Independence day.

Officials said the militant groups of the northeast had already called a general strike in the entire region on August 15 and there were possibilities of insurgency related activities to thwart the celebrations.
