The local administration in Rawalpindi has warned of shortage of security personnel during the one-day international to be played between India and Pakistan because of Muharram falling around the same date.

According to the new itinerary announced on Monday, the ODI in Rawalpindi will be played Feb 11. The tenth of Muharram, a day of mourning for Muslims, is likely to fall on 9th or 10th of February, depending on the sighting of the moon.
Since past couple of decades, the occasion has become sensitive for the law enforcement agencies, when Muslims from two main sects - Sunni and Shia - have clashed.
"Most of our personnel would be busy with the Muharram processions," said a senior security officer warning of shortage of policemen and other law enforcement personnel.
However when contacted, a Pakistan Cricket Board official said that they have revised the schedule after clearance from the interior ministry.
"We think they have given us clearance after reviewing the situation," he said, adding they would once again take up this matter with the ministry.
