"It has been decided to run pilot engines before the departure of commercial trains in the morning and evenings on the Jammu-Udhampur and Jammu-Kathua tracks as a security drill keeping in view the threat perception," Senior Superintendent of Police (Crime and Railways) Sunil Sharma said.

He said Northern Railway authorities in Ferozpur division had been informed about the step to safeguard the trains and tracks.

The railway station was out of bounds for vehicular traffic and "no vehicle will be allowed to be parked in the railway station complex", he said.

Passengers were required to disembark outside the gate of the railway station and checking at three places would be conducted by policemen with sniffer dogs, the SSP said.

He said closed circuit television cameras, bomb disposal squads, hidden police cameramen and channel security set-up are already in place at the station.
