"Security has been beefed up. We are using trained police personnel and manpower, new technology equipments, interceptors and taking other steps to make the Test match safe and secure," Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Vikram Singh told reporters in Lucknow on Wednesday.

"We welcome the spectators to come and enjoy the match without worrying about security," Singh said.

Central intelligence agencies had written to the special cell of Delhi police and the Uttar Pradesh police on Tuesday warning them of a possible terror attack on cricketers during the third and final Test of South Africa's India tour.

The two teams reached Kanpur on Tuesday.

Official sources said either a Kashmir-based terrorist group or a pro-Khalistan group from Punjab is behind the threat.
