While heavy rain brought the Capital to a standstill on Saturday and Monday, it led to waterlogging and seepage problems at the showpiece Commonwealth Games Village in east Delhi.
The incessant rain resulted in the basements of many of the 34 towers in the residential complex being completely flooded. The rain also led to seepage in many towers at the Village.
"The basements became completely out of bounds for a couple of days after the heavy rain of Saturday, which also resulted in seepage. The maintenance teams did try to rectify the problems but there is still a huge gap in properly maintaining the complex," said a resident of Tower 24 who wished to remain anonymous.
"Seepage in the building is a recurrent problem during monsoon. Rain water was even leaking from the roofs and entered our flats," said another resident of Tower 34.
"Out tower is usually the worst affected as it is in a low-lying area, which results in waterlogging," he added.
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA), however, claimed that there was no serious problem at the complex. "I have not received any formal complaint from the residents and the staff deployed at the complex has not informed me about any seepage either," said DP Singh, chief engineer (design), DDA.
