“People are raising irrelevant questions and ignoring relevant ones. It is not relevant as to who will get the temple constructed or what style of architecture will be followed or what will be its model?

The basic question is where the temple will be constructed. First, people should talk about acquiring land for temple construction,” he said. He was addressing a press conference in Daliganj on Tuesday. “We do not talk about Masjid. It is for Musilm brethren to discuss. We talk only about the temple; we do not want to interfere in their religious thinking and plans,” he said.

He announced that Ram Janmbhoomi Parikrima programme that he has called for was nothing to do with politics and had no association with any political party.

It was spiritual and religious programme organised under the auspices of the Akhil Bharatiya Shriram Janmbhoomi Punaruddhar Samiti by Shriram Janmbhoomi Parikrama Mahasaparya Samiti on November 30.

The proposed parikrima would begin from the road in front of Birla Dharmshala and end at the same spot after covering a 2.5 km area of the Ramjanmabhoomi, he said.

Talking about the Ram Janmbhoomi ‘movement’, he said that it had its origin in 16th century. The Shankaracharya in a passing reference to his past said he had participated in India’s freedom struggle and was jailed twice.
