CAMPION CHURCH, Infant Jesus Church, Holy Family Church and Idgah Hills Church today entered semi-finals of the Eugene D’Souza Memorial Football Tournament organised by Khrist Premalaya organised at St Joseph’s Co-ed School Ground here.
The first quarterfinal match of the day was played between hosts KPRP and Infant Jesus, Vrindavan Nagar. Such was the intense contest between the two teams that neither could open account in the stipulated time.
Even in extra time they failed to score. In the deciding tiebreaker round, showing their excellent skills, Infant Jesus’ Randier and Praveen found the target and won match for the team 2-1.
One goal each by Jeevan, Lalit, Shanti and Nitin helped St Edmond, Campion, to defeat St Antony’s, Kolar, 4-1 in the second quarterfinal match. Campion dominated the field right from the start of the game in every part of the game and outplayed the opponents.
The third match, between SVD Vidya Bhavan and Holy Family, Habibganj, went goalless in the stipulated time, as no teams could score. In the tiebreaker shoot-out, Antony, Vicky, Lavesh and Ravi of Holy Family managed to put four straight shots into the nets. Holy Family Church, Habibganj, won the match 4-3.
In the last quarterfinal match of the tournament, Roshan Ekka led Idgah Hills by a beautiful field goal. St Joseph’s Idgah Hills won the match 1-0 against Christ the King, Bairagarh.
