Seminar on holistic education begins

THE FOUR-day fifth national seminar on holistic education began at Pastoral Centre here on Saturday. The objective of the seminar was to discuss practical aspects of making education holistic and the target group for the seminar is principals, managers and educationists at school and college level, who if willing can bring about sweeping changes in the education scenario and thus country?s future.

NGO University Solidarity Movement of Value Education for Peace is organising the seminar. The inauguration was held on Saturday evening with an inter-religious prayer followed by a keynote address by Government of Kerala land revenue commissioner K J Alphonse.

Speaking on the occasion, Alphonse said celebrating life, having a dream and daring to realise was the only way to make the difference.

He further said the question everyone needed to ask self in the morning was `Why am I here in the world?’ and the day should end with the question `What did I do with my today?’.

On the second day of seminar on Sunday, principal from Mumbai School Mudita Menona Sodder critically analysed the new evaluation system, the salient features and perspectives of the new national curriculum framework in the backdrop of country’s existing socio-economic conditions and increasing influences of globalisation.
