THE INAUGURAL session of two-day national seminar on ‘Outsourcing service sector: Myth, reality and challenges’ was held at Government Girls College Dewas on Thursday.
The seminar was organised by Internal Quality Assurance Cell and sponsored by Department of Higher Education, Government of Madhya Pradesh, and Jan Bhagidari Samiti of the college.
Genpact India vice-president Rajiv Wadhera was the chief guest at the seminar. Andhra Pradesh University Vice Chancellor Dr L Venugopal Reddy, NIIT Delhi general manager K Rajendra Prasad and Additional Director (Higher Education) Dr N K Dad were the guests of honour.
Satywati College, Delhi principal Prof Ravinder Goel was the keynote speaker. Government Girls College Dewas principal Prof R K Nagar delivered the welcome address. He threw light on the importance of outsourcing in the service sector and urged the students to come forward and capture the market. Prof Ravinder Goel highlighted the growth in service sector in India.
Prof Goel said that the country is going through a progressive phase in economic sector. He explained that the service sector includes not only BPOs and KPOs but also industries like aviation, hospitals, trading and hotels etc. Prof Goel stressed on the need for qualitative manpower.
K Rajendra Prasad underscored the importance and need of IT industries in his address. He said that logic-based and rational decisions were always correct. Rajiv Wadhera said that the service sector gener-ates more employment with less capital.

Dr Reddy said innovation was the key to development in the outsourcing world. Janbhagidari Samiti president Malika Choudhary also addressed the gathering. Pratibha Nahar, Sonam Upadhyay, Ankita Dasania and Rashmi Painter presented badges to the guests.
Pooja Joshi presented Saraswati Vandana and Reeta Nath and Nidhi Vijayvargiya recited the ‘kulgaan’. Dr Sameera Nayeem conducted the programme and Prof Vineeta Verma proposed the vote of thanks.
