Seminar on women from tomorrow

THE CENTRE for Women?s Studies and Development, Faculty of Social Science, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is going to organise a two-day national seminar on ?Women in Dharmshastra: A Phenomenological and Critical Analysis? at Swatantrata Bhavan in the varsity on March 8 and 9 to mark International Women?s Day.

THE CENTRE for Women’s Studies and Development, Faculty of Social Science, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is going to organise a two-day national seminar on “Women in Dharmshastra: A Phenomenological and Critical Analysis” at Swatantrata Bhavan in the varsity on March 8 and 9 to mark International Women’s Day.

Coordinator of the Centre Dr. Chandrakala Padia informed that Vice-Chancellor of Lal Bahadur Shastri Sanskrit Vidyapeeth, New Delhi, Prof. Vachaspati Upadhyay would be the chief guest at the seminar while Prof. Kapil Kapoor of Jawaharlal Nehru University would be the keynote speaker.

She further informed that former V-C Kanchipuram University and Director, Archeology, Tamil Nadu, Prof. M Nagaswamy and former director, Indian Council of Historical Research, New Delhi Prof. Vivekananad Jha would be the guests of honour on the occasion. Rector of BHU Prof. S Lele would preside over the function, she said, adding that seven sessions would be held in the seminar in which 54 papers would be presented on different themes by distinguished speakers such as Ex V-CKanpur University Prof. Hemlata Swarup and , Director, Kalidas Academy Ujjain Prof. Kamlesh Dutta Tripathi.
